Oilympics Hockey Tournament (March 2012)
Amount donated: $400,000
The 2012 edition of the Oilympics Hockey Tournament will support the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Division of Hematology & Multiple Myeloma Research. The Oilympics Executive Committee has chosen this beneficiary after our good friend Ken Zandee was diagnosed with multiple myeloma last October. This was yet another record year for the Oilympics - We were able to raise $400,000 towards the purchase of an Ion Proton Sequencer which helps to analyze the mylomna content within the blood, allowing doctors to prepare and morre accurate treatment plan for each individual patient.
The Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary is the main cancer treatment centre for Southern Alberta and a lead centre for the province-wide prevention, research and treatment program, providing advanced medical and supportive cancer care, patient and professional education, and conducts research through the Alberta Cancer Research Institute. The Tom Baker Cancer Centre handles approximately 130,000 patient appointments annually and supports cancer-related research activities

Stampede 2012 (July 2012)
Amount donated: $10,000
This year's charity for the Stampede was BROWN BAGGING FOR CALGARY'S KIDS SOCIETY (BB4CK).
Through ticket sales and donations we were able to donate $5,000 to the charity & this was matched by corporate Calgary for a total of $10,000. This essentially feeds 10,000 kids.
Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids (BB4CK) was established as a lunch program in 1990 under the name of the Brown Bagging for Calgary Street Kids Society. Following recent findings by the Feeding Calgary's Children Initiative - that almost 30,000 children and youth in Calgary go hungry while in school - the mandate has changed to include all children and youth, whether on the streets or in school.
BB4CK was created in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education to combat increasing numbers of youth attending Calgary schools without a lunch. We currently deliver over 1500 brown bag lunches to 60+ different schools daily.
Jordan Feradi (May 2012)
Amount donated: $25,000
Jordan had a big zest for life and passion for sports had bravely fought brain stem glioma, an inoperable tumour, enduring radiation and intolerable chemotherapy before becoming the second child accepted to the clinical trial in New York City, which involved delivering a radioactive antibody directly to the tumour. Unfortunately, we are sad to say, that Jordan passed away in August as the tumour spread beyond the treated area. Jordan was an inspiration to many people and was a special guest at the Hockey Marathon, touching the lives of each player in many ways.
